Toy Biz DC Superheroes Superman and Spiderman Crime Central Playset

Forty Dollars. Brand New. Toy Biz Superman. That is a nice find if you ask me.  I had this figure as a kid and he was well loved. His joints are beyond loose and his paint is barely visible around his shield and hair. I'm very glad I was able to find this one.

I'm not certain, but I think this figure has a different head sculpt than my original one. It's not bad, just not the same.

While looking for add ons for my Superheroes collection, I came across the Spider-man Crime Central playset.

Obviously, it was made for the Kingpin but I love repurposing playsets. It is now LexCorp and the headquarters for the Legion of Doom! I took off the Spider Slayer and removed the Spider-Man labels. I'll work on replacing them later with more appropriate images.

This is one of those playsets that I love. It has nothing special or unique so it can be used in many different ways.

There are two opening side walls. The Penguin Umbrella Jet fits perfectly. I plan on getting the Lex Soar 7 from the Super Powers line for the other opening.

And of course, the openings are perfect for these kind of interactions.

I added a swivel chair to the Kingpin's command center to create a desk for Lex. Kingpin's headset perfectly holds in place the Kryptonite ring that came with Superman. No sneaking up on this guy.

The Legion of Doom is slowly growing. Mostly Batman rogues at the moment, but I'm working on it!

Will It Motu or Notu? Schleich Big Knights Castle

Schleich has been around for quite while. They specialize in super detailed animals and fantasy creatures. More recently, they have been adding figurines and now "action figures". These toys are all pretty awesome and are in a 3 3/4 scale, like Star Wars and G.I. Joe. They have been making playsets and dioramas, as well, and a few of them really caught my eye. Since I have been on a vintage MOTU binge, my mind immediately began trying to figure out just how well these playsets would scale with my toys. I asked sellers on Amazon.com who responded negatively, but it didn't sit well with me. Being a toy collector for as long as I have been, my mind has become pretty adept at this. Many of you, I'm sure, can say the same. I decided to reach out on He-Man.org. Nobody was negative on it but they weren't really sure either. One member, Barbecue17, had the playset I was thinking about and had covered it on his blog, which you can check out here -  http://www.actionfig...

Toy Biz DC Superheroes Flash v2, Hawkman, Two Face

I started getting back into the DC Superheroes line early last year. Even though the Kenner Super Powers line is superior in a lot of ways, this line has a nostalgic value for me. Recently, I was able to add three more figures to my collection: Hawkman, Two Face, and the second version of the Flash! Version 2 is a HUGE upgrade over Version 1. V2 Flash doesn't rely on a wind up action feature so it actually has arm articulation. Now Flash can actually do some better posing... let alone throw a punch! V2 Flash also comes with a Quicksilver/Silver Surfer-esqe platform. It even moves forward on its own if you pull it backwards.  Toy Biz vs Kenner. The Kenner figure is obviously the better choice. Just one look at his weapon and his head sculpt and that is obvious. However, there is a dumb charm to the Toy Biz figure and I'm happy to have him. I really like this Two Face figure. He has a winding feature for flipping his...

Toy Biz DC Superheroes - Flash, Wonder Woman, Robin, Riddler, and the Penguin

Toy Biz's DC and Marvel Superheroes lines were my first comic book toys growing up and I loved them! For DC, I had Superman, Luthor, Batman, Robin, Joker, Mr. Freeze, Penguin, and the Riddler. For Marvel, I had Spider-man, the Punisher, Captain America, the Hulk, Deathlok, Human Torch, Doctor Octopus, Venom, and Silver Surfer. Now, these were not the best toys by any stretch of the imagination. They were very gimmicky and cheap, especially the DC line. A lot of the issues were straightened out for Marvel. With all of that in mind, these toys still hold a special place in my nostalgic heart. Unfortunately, most of my figures broke, were lost or their paint wore away, so I decided to get back in on the line. Ebay, my ever present nemesis and vice, had a lot of carded figures that I was able to snag for $37. Not a bad start by any means of the imagination. All of the cards had some water damage and Wonder Woman's bubble had some yellowing but the figures themselves were in g...

Super 7 Shadow Weaver

I really hope this isn't my final new 5.5 Masters of the Universe figure. With the news of Super 7 losing the MOTU license becoming official last week, my spirits dipped a tad bit. Yes, I know that Mattel is bringing in a new line but I really wish that Super 7 were allowed to keep their sub line of Filmation figures going. It would have in NO way taken away from what they were planning for the fall. Saying that, I really hope to see a Sorceress in the new line because figures like that are going to be the only ones I really purchase. Anyways, having a Shadow Weaver in this line is really cool. Her levitation stand is a nice touch. We've waited a long time for this sight. I need to get some more Horde Troopers. And can you imagine if we got a Super 7 Catra? Maybe we can get it from the Mattel line? Fingers crossed. Thanks Super 7!

Vintage Masters of the Universe - Commemorative Man at Arms and Zodac, Horde Trooper, Moss Man, Roboto, Sy-Klone, and Stratos

A new vintage toy shop opened up in my area this week. I'm not going to mention names but I didn't have a great time. A few weeks ago, a toy shop that I had frequented in the past began to share the posts of a new store that was opening near their location. As the pictures scrolled across my feed, my anticipation began to build. Just the thought of a new vintage toy store gave me the excitement that I used to have when I had birthday money to spend as a child. You know the feeling, it's the joy of open ended opportunities just being a fingertip away. As the days continued on, my joy began to turn into concern, no price tags. The store was posting lots of great stuff but there wasn't a single price listing to be seen. I don't know about you, but I have always found that disconcerting. I understand that the vintage toy industry has really become a sellers' market these days. I also completely understand that a brick and mortar store has to pay their bills so I...
