Toy Biz DC Superheroes Flash v2, Hawkman, Two Face

I started getting back into the DC Superheroes line early last year. Even though the Kenner Super Powers line is superior in a lot of ways, this line has a nostalgic value for me. Recently, I was able to add three more figures to my collection: Hawkman, Two Face, and the second version of the Flash!

Version 2 is a HUGE upgrade over Version 1. V2 Flash doesn't rely on a wind up action feature so it actually has arm articulation. Now Flash can actually do some better posing... let alone throw a punch!

V2 Flash also comes with a Quicksilver/Silver Surfer-esqe platform. It even moves forward on its own if you pull it backwards.

Toy Biz vs Kenner. The Kenner figure is obviously the better choice. Just one look at his weapon and his head sculpt and that is obvious. However, there is a dumb charm to the Toy Biz figure and I'm happy to have him.

I really like this Two Face figure. He has a winding feature for flipping his coin and his suit sculpt is pretty good. The face is goofy, like most of the Toy Biz line but I like the comic accuracy. The only gripe I had about this figure was that he couldn't hold any weapons. I took a screwdriver and made an opening for holding a gun. Now his coin flipping can have more drastic consequences.

The gun is just a placeholder for now. I plan on using the Kenner Tommy Gun that came with their Animated Series Joker.

Star Wars Power of the Force Shadows of the Empire Vehicles Outrider and Slave One

Shadows the Empire was an amazing period in Star Wars history. It's sad that the overall story was just tossed to the side like it was meaningless. I could understand a reworking of certain story elements but just treating it like it never existed was such a blow for me. Thankfully, I will always have the memories and, for now, I have the toys. I didn't have either of these vehicles growing up. I've mentioned in previous blogs how I favored getting multiple figures over a single vehicle when visiting the toy store but that did not mean that I did not want them. Mega Bloks Mighty Morphin Power Rangers 2016

When you become an adult and take up a career, you find that it is harder to keep up with everything going on in the world. When you are a teacher, this becomes next to impossible. That is why I am again in a situation where I found out about a toy line that I like after it has already been axed. This week's victim - Mighty Morphin Power Rangers from Mega Bloks (Construx), 2016. Mega has had many goes with different eras of Power Rangers but none of them ever appealed to me by design or by the content. However, discovering the Mighty Morphin variety of Rangers was a sweet surprise this Christmas. I was 7 years old when this brand entered my life. I vividly remember seeing the first teaser for the show on television and running outside and pretending to be these characters before I knew anything about it. Funko Primal Age Batcave

With these toys hitting clearance prices, I decided to pick up the Batcave. You can tell from the above pictures, that the packaging is clearly evoking MOTU. Even with the cross sell on the back. Very nice artwork. However, what is on the inside is far cooler. First, let me say that all of the details on this playset are amazing. And, despite what you may have heard, this is some pretty good plastic and has some weight to it. Now, I am not a fan of the Primal Age series but I plan on using this as a stand in for Castle Plun Darr. I really like that standing area behind the Bat's head. The Cave opens up just like Castle Grayskull and as some really nice features. The spine/ladder is really well made with nice details and it has some weight to it. I love the depth of the dungeon. Super 7 Man at Arms and Beastman

I know a lot of people have had their issues with Super 7 and their handling of the MOTU license. Speaking for myself, I know things haven't been perfect but I have not experienced the same issues that others have had. I've purchased the entire MOTUSCLE line, one of the Power-Con 3 packs, and many of the vintage style figures. Not everything has been perfect but everything has definitely improved with each release. The Three Terrors were definitely the best figures they have put out from my experience. The Hordak and She-Ra both had issues with their legs being too stiff. From the next wave, I bought Man at Arms and Beastman and I can vouch that that problem has been fixed. I never owned the vintage Beastman because I hated the face sculpt. The Super 7 face, however, is wonderful. It is not as a great as the 2008 Classics version, but it is miles above the vintage figure. A great team I always wanted to see. Beastman will never top He-Man.....
