Custom Kang the Conqueror Toy Biz Kenner Marvel Superheroes

Kang has been my favorite super villain since I got his Secret Wars action figure as a kid. Something about that striking blue mask peeking out of the ominous purple and green has always stuck with me. Growing up, I devoured every Kang story that I could. Citizen Kang always stuck out as it finally showed a Kang victorious, albeit for a moment, hiding in between our realities.

However, I have to say that my favorite incarnation of the future warlord came from Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes by Christopher Yost. I think he really nailed down the best parts of the character and gave us an arc that not only satisfied you as viewer but left you waiting for Kang's revenge.

I decided to take my Secret Wars Kang and combine him the Kenner Super Powers Lex Luthor to make a figure in scale with my Marvel Superheroes.

Toy Biz DC Superheroes Flash v2, Hawkman, Two Face

I started getting back into the DC Superheroes line early last year. Even though the Kenner Super Powers line is superior in a lot of ways, this line has a nostalgic value for me. Recently, I was able to add three more figures to my collection: Hawkman, Two Face, and the second version of the Flash! Version 2 is a HUGE upgrade over Version 1. V2 Flash doesn't rely on a wind up action feature so it actually has arm articulation. Now Flash can actually do some better posing... let alone throw a punch! V2 Flash also comes with a Quicksilver/Silver Surfer-esqe platform. It even moves forward on its own if you pull it backwards. Toy Biz vs Kenner. The Kenner figure is obviously the better choice. Star Wars Power of the Force Red Box Vehicles X-Wing, AT-ST, and Speeder Bike with Scout Trooper

Speeder Bike with Scout Trooper This was the only one of these three vehicles that my brother and I had as kids. We had two vintage scout troopers so finally having a speeder bike was a big deal. An added plus was that it was the same mold as the vintage line so our original scouts could finally feel the air fog up their goggles. The new scout figure introduced one of my least favorite things about the new Power of the Force line: wide stance, bending knee figures. They just look awkward off of their vehicles and besides the speeder bike, no one else could ride unless they had similar legs. Say what you will about the vintage vehicles and beasts but the trap door mechanism made it possible for most anyone to ride. Funko - Savage World - Thundercats Wave 1

Masters of the Universe has always been one of my favorite franchises. There is a particularly visceral charm to it that has captivated my imagination for years. Thundercats falls into that same category. Since I was born in 1986, I wasn't old enough to have watched the show's original run. However, I did have the action figures for Lion-O and Jackalman and a coloring book that told the story of the Thundercats search for their missing Time Capsule. These were more than enough to hook me on the franchise. I was able to rent a few VHS episodes from Blockbuster in early 90's but I wasn't able to fully grasp the glory of the refugees of Thundera until Toonami added it to its programming. This show really had a lot going for it. The animation was fantastic, the characterizations and voice acting were superb and the music was enthralling. King Arthur and the Knights of Justice - Lord Viper

I recently saw a tweet that stated that the best things of the 90's were really just backwash from the 80's. I'm still not sure if that is true but it does come up here with King Arthur and the Knights of Justice. It didn't last long but I loved it, especially that theme song! Definitely brought back feelings of Boorman's Excalibur. Also, the Round Table and Suit Up moments felt a lot like M.A.S.K. The biggest connection might be Masters of the Universe. A lot of the same voice actors from the New Adventures of He-Man show up in this series. Garry Chalk, who played He-Man in the New Adventures and Man at Arms in the 200X MYP series plays our main henchman and leader of the Warlords, Lord Viper. Toy Biz Batman Batmobile

Recently, I learned that the Toy Biz Batmobile was a two seater! Talk about a game changer. I loved my Kenner Batmobile, it had the engine missile, machine guns, and the pop out/rotating fire effect, but it could only hold Batman. As a 1966 Batman devotee, I always wanted Robin to ride batarang so that he could hear lectures about automobile safety as he approached his 16th birthday. It took a bit of searching but I found a pretty good one in $50 range on Ebay. The stickers were included but I decided not to apply them. I love the chrome features over the gold hubcaps on the Kenner Batmobile. The passenger seat is everything for me with this. The gear shift opens secret missile launchers in the front. The Bat Trunk was an interesting feature. It has a lot of depth, which I guess can be useful for taking criminals to Arkham, or disposing of their bodies.
