Masters of the Universe Eternia Minis Grayskull, Snake Mountain, and Slime Pit Diorama/Displays

Obligatory opening lines about how I love Masters of the Universe. You probably get that at this point. Anyway, I remember when the Minis first debuted during the Matty Collector days. I thought they were neat at the time but collecting the Classics figures was expensive enough, so I passed on them. Fast forward to 2021, where I've sold off my Classics collection (except the Laser Light Figures), I've left my vintage collection at my parent's house where future generations can discover them, and I'm only really collecting the Mega Construx brand. The only issue here is that the breaks seem to be HUGE in between releases of  Waves.

So during this 'in between' period, I've rediscovered the Minis. I LOVE the boxed displays and how the figures look like they jumped right out of the Most Powerful Game in the Universe mobile app. Also, as an uncle of three 0-4 year olds, I want to have something MOTU at my place that they get into when visiting. Alright, enough words, let's check these out.

The Grayskull and Snake Mountain sets share the same outer box
with art on the front and back depicting either location.

The Slime Pit has a different outer box.

The same He-Man that was in the Grayskull set.

Star Wars Power of the Force Shadows of the Empire Vehicles Outrider and Slave One

Shadows the Empire was an amazing period in Star Wars history. It's sad that the overall story was just tossed to the side like it was meaningless. I could understand a reworking of certain story elements but just treating it like it never existed was such a blow for me. Thankfully, I will always have the memories and, for now, I have the toys. I didn't have either of these vehicles growing up. I've mentioned in previous blogs how I favored getting multiple figures over a single vehicle when visiting the toy store but that did not mean that I did not want them. Being able to have them now as an adult is still pretty cool.  Slave One We are all well aware of how cool this ship is and the toy is pretty sweet as well. I think my favorite feature is the open up cargo area that helps this ship tread the line between vehicle and playset. Toy Polloi has even designed an insert that you can stick in this area that gives Boba some things to fiddle  with. I also love that it...

Imperial Beasts Lot

When the vintage Masters of the Universe line came out, it was an out of the park, smash hit. Other companies wanted in on that MOTU cash so they produced similar toys for children to add to their collections. One of these companies was Imperial and two of their lines were Dragons, Knights, and Daggers and Robots, Lasers, and Galaxies. The box art alone were enough to tell children that He-Man would approve of these toys. Over the years, I was left with only the seat. Trying to find it online had proved torturous as fans had discovered their value and I refused to pay $100 for a rubber elephant.  Fate turned a new page for me this week, however, as one Ebayer decided to liquidate his massive collection of Imperial beasts. I decided to g...

Vintage Masters of the Universe - King Hiss, Mantenna, Teela

New pick ups from Ebay, Mantenna, King Hiss and Teela!  Each figure was less than $20 but I am learning that many people on Ebay are just forgoing honesty for the sure sell. These were all listed with "tight" joints yet they are all pretty loose. Not SUPER loose, they can stand alright, but these are not tight. I still have vintage figures from my childhood that have tight joints so I know what I expect when I read that word. I'm still glad I picked them up. Let's be completely honest, King Hiss was a cool concept with a weak payoff. I am much more a fan of the 200X version. The Snakemen Mantenna is without a doubt one of the greatest things to come out of the 80's. Such a grotesque yet awesome figure! The Horde Facing off with the Princess of Power! Teela is great. I always preferred the warrior goddess idea to the captain of the guard. She kind of puts the She-Ra figure to shame. I think it really...

GoBots: Guardian Command Center

If there is one thing that gave GoBots a leg up on Transformers it was that they had playsets. They had two official, two unofficial, and one unproduced set. Playsets go a long way with me and if you've followed this blog for awhile that shouldn't be a surprise to you. Probably the most important GoBot playset was the Guardian Command Center. I never had one growing up but I did get a brand new one from Dallas Vintage Toys this week. There is always a magical feeling when you get something brand new. It is a little bit like time travel for the emotions. Everything here was brand new but unfortunately it had water damage, as you can see in the pictures. This wasn't a huge problem but it did cause me grief in the stickers department. The entire sheet had developed a few layers of grime from dust and being in a water damaged box. I was able to clean it a little bit but some of the stickers were unusable. To compensate I ended up finding some repro stickers fro...

Custom Super Powers Cyborg Superman

I'm a huge fan of Green Lantern, so as I have been building up my DC Superheroes collection, I realized I needed a good villain from his side of things. I found a seller on eBay listing some stellar looking customs under $100. I decided to take the risk on their Cyborg Superman. Let me just say that I am GLAD that I did! First off, here is their store:  Bigfoot6220 ebay store Secondly, here is Cyborg Superman!  The figure is pretty cool. They used an authentic Super Powers Superman as a base and gave it some great paint apps. The action feature still works as well.  The cape is custom but nice material. The logo seems to be thin cardstock that has been glued to the fabric. Not great, but not bad either. I don't have a Toybiz GL yet but, obviously, the cyborg is a great villain for Superman as well! I'm pretty satisfied with this figure and my Legion of Doom is continuing to round out well.
