Super7 He-Ro and Eldor

The Powers of Grayskull wave from Super 7 was a super jump in quality over the Filmation Wave 2. I had previously commented on the brittle plastic but this wave fixes that pretty well. Everything is nice and rubbery. Not as rubbery as the vintage and Three Terrors figures, but much closers than they have been. And the legs joints are even better.



Such a juxtaposition of personalities.


Don't let his Ken doll face fool you, this is a great toy. The Vacmetal is shiny and the cloth cape is great.


His magic staff doesn't really have the action feature that it is supposed to have because it does not stay closed like it should. A minor negative unless that was a selling point for you.

Hands have a 360 swivel which should be useful but it isn't. More on that later.

The Book of Living Spells is WAY too big for Eldor to hold at all. If you have extra pieces to your Castle Grayskull, this is where they come in handy.


So for this wave, the sculpts are wonderful and the joints are great. The accessories aren't too well thought out but that might be because they were just going off what was left to them from the original prototypes. Who knows but it is something to keep in mind.

Toy Biz DC Superheroes Flash v2, Hawkman, Two Face

I started getting back into the DC Superheroes line early last year. Even though the Kenner Super Powers line is superior in a lot of ways, this line has a nostalgic value for me. Recently, I was able to add three more figures to my collection: Hawkman, Two Face, and the second version of the Flash! Version 2 is a HUGE upgrade over Version 1. V2 Flash doesn't rely on a wind up action feature so it actually has arm articulation. Now Flash can actually do some better posing... let alone throw a punch! V2 Flash also comes with a Quicksilver/Silver Surfer-esqe platform. It even moves forward on its own if you pull it backwards.  Toy Biz vs Kenner. The Kenner figure is obviously the better choice. Kre-O G.I. Joe Battle Wagon

  G.I. Joe has always had amazing vehicles for your figures to interact with. As the line grew, so did the imaginations of the creators, as each year seemed to provide us with something bigger than the one before. After the U.S.S. Flagg and the Defiant, bigger was no longer an option but that didn't stop G.I. Joe from just going big and bold with their designs.  The 1990s era of the line is not universally loved but they gave us plenty of big vehicles, including the Battle Wagon. The Battle Wagon was heavily marketed as an essential item for Joe fans of the time, especially in the DIC cartoon. Unfortunately, I never had it as a kid. It was a high price tag item and, honestly, I never remember seeing it in stores. When I was in college, my younger brother bought two of them on ebay. Being able to see them in person, I had to agree it was worth the hype that Hasbro put around it. I've now moved away from collecting traditional Joes. I'm older and I want my nephews and nieces ...

Custom Vultureman

    With the apparent ending of Funko's Savage World, my dreams of MOTU scaled Thundercats seems to rest in my own ingenuity. To that end, I started google searching all the various MOTU scaled lines like Remco, Savage World, DC Primal Age, and ZOLO. I came across this guy who immediately jumped out at me as Vultureman: A few days of painting later and Vultureman is mostly complete! I still need to decide if I want to paint his tongue, add a skirt, and give him a weapon but I think he turned out wonderfully. The Mutant army continues to grow... ...and Castle Plun-Darr is getting fuller.  I might need to start seeking out Mumm Ra's tomb or a good stand in for it. 

Carry Cases - MOTU, MOTU Deluxe, TMNT Deluxe

Continuing on with my Carry Case collection, I've added some more this month. First up is the Masters of the Universe Collectors Case. It was designed to hold 8 but I easily have about 20 figures inside. Definitely not enough to hold an entire collection but could easily contain one faction. I have the majority of the Heroic Warriors in this one. Makes it easier to find which figures I'm looking for when I change up displays. I love the art on these cases, they alway pick just the right art to capture your imagination and ready your brain for adventure. Now the Deluxe Masters of the Universe Carry Case is quite the upgrade, not only does it hold double the figures but the inside doubles as a playset! Amazingly cool. Toy Biz Sentinel

Any X-Men fan will agree on how cool the Sentinels are. They would rank in the top 10 of any X-Men villain list, easily. And if you poll X-Men the Animated Series fans, they will tell you how great the first season was with the premiere episode, Night of the Sentinels and the season finale, The Final Decision. The entire show was sold to us on the danger of these machine menaces. For whatever reason, I was never able to ahold of one of the Sentinel figures as a kid. We were just bombarded with so much coolness growing up that it was hard to get everything out there. Luckily, my adulthood has been filled with second chances. I picked up my first Sentinel this fall from Ebay. It was in wonderful condition and I can't wait to pick up a few more. Just really cool toys.
