Kre-O Cobra Forces/Terror Drome

A few years ago, I found myself coming to terms with the end of MOTUC and was feeling kind of done with collecting toys. That was until I came across the Kre-O set of Slaughter's Marauders and Iron Grenadiers on Amazon for only $25! I had been aware of Kre-O when it first started but I hadn't really paid much attention to it.

Long story short, I spent the next year stocking up on a lot of what I had missed. What really enticed me about these figures was the customizability that was possible akin to playing Fire Pro Wrestling. The details didn't matter too much as long as it could pass the 'squint test'.

This post is going to focus only on my collection of Cobra figures and my modified Terror Drome. Later on, I'll hit the Joes and the Iron Grenadiers.

Nemesis Enforcer and Serpentor. I updated his headdress utilizing pieces from the knockoff lego Serpentor from China.

Cobra Commander and my custom Battle Armor Cobra Commander.

The Dreadnoks - Zarana, my custom 90's era Road Pig, Torch, Ripper, and Zartan.
Still working on a Buzzer.

Cobra Mortal, Dr. Mindbender, and Copperhead

Tomax and Xamot

Customs of Cesspool, Letal (Brazilian Cobra figure), the Interrogator

Scrap Iron, Major Bludd, and Firefly

Slice and Dice

Ninja-Ku's

Custom SAW Vipers. I wasn't a fan of the official release so I made my own.
Still need two more non Transformer heads.

The original Crimson Guards were pricey by the time I entered the game so I decided to use extra Firebat pilots to make some Crimson Guard Immortals.

Night Viper and two Battle Damage BATs

Customs of the 90's Eel, Range Viper, Heat Viper, and Laser Viper

Various Cobra Troopers and Officers

Televipers and Techno Vipers

Vipers

Firebat pilots

Customs of the Headman, Gristle and some Headhunters.

Customs of Cobra's Asian arm, Shadowloo - M. Bison, Sagat, Vega, Dee Jay, and Zangief.

The Terror Drome (Modified)

I liked the Terror Drome but I didn't like how compact everything was so I decided to pimp mine up a bit. I still might buy a second one to add on to it.

Front landing zone for Fangs or Trouble Bubbles.

Front gate opened up to reveal the main defense and a place for vehicles to attack from.

Dropping the left panel reveals a command station of sorts.

Command console in contact with the Commander.

Also, another place for vehicles to pass through.

Dropping the right panel reveals Dr. Mindbender's laboratory.

Assorted injections and chemicals and a place for patients/victims.

Take two and hiss at me in the morning.

The top level still functions the same way, minus the launcher for the Firebat. Now it just sits there or can fly out when needed. Removing the launcher also gives me the choice to house other vehicles there instead.

Removing the top level reveals Serpentor's Throne room.

I ran out of panels for the back so I decided to have it be Serpentor's launch area for his Air Chariot. The Throne room leads straight to it.

I really love this line and I wish it had continued. Luckily, there are still many more customs to be made with what already exists between these, the Transformers and their Cityville lines.

Funko Savage World Thundercats Wave 2

2018 was an exciting time for me because we finally received Thundercats in the same scale as Masters of the Universe! It was a dream come true for myself and, I'm sure, many other children of the 80's. The excitement was unfortunately short lived as the factory that Funko worked with screwed up the plastics used on hip articulation. Many figure arrived with broken or soon to be broken crotches and Funko was dealt a pretty serious black eye. However, they worked hard to fix that issue but that also pushed back Wave 2 of Thundercats over a year. During that time, they went ahead with a mass market retail approach for a DC Comics universe in the Savage World style. While there were some nice toys in this line, especially the Bat Cave, the overall appeal to general audiences didn't seem to be there. A lot of planned Savage World lines seemed to get axed because of the gamble not paying off. Thankfully, Thundercats Wave 2 made the cut and began arriving this past quarter...

Will It Motu or Notu? Schleich Big Knights Castle

Schleich has been around for quite while. They specialize in super detailed animals and fantasy creatures. More recently, they have been adding figurines and now "action figures". These toys are all pretty awesome and are in a 3 3/4 scale, like Star Wars and G.I. Joe. They have been making playsets and dioramas, as well, and a few of them really caught my eye. Since I have been on a vintage MOTU binge, my mind immediately began trying to figure out just how well these playsets would scale with my toys. I asked sellers on Amazon.com who responded negatively, but it didn't sit well with me. Being a toy collector for as long as I have been, my mind has become pretty adept at this. Many of you, I'm sure, can say the same. I decided to reach out on He-Man.org. Nobody was negative on it but they weren't really sure either. One member, Barbecue17, had the playset I was thinking about and had covered it on his blog, which you can check out here -  http://www.actionfig...

Star Wars Power of the Force Deluxe Red Card Figures - Luke with Desert Sport Skiff, Han Solo with Smuggler Flight Pack, and Crowd Control Stormtrooper

When it comes to the 1990's Kenner Star Wars relaunch, there are a lot of things people love and a lot of things people hate. The Deluxe assortment was something I absolutely loved. These kinds of figures showcased Star Wars as a toy line vs a collector's line. And Kenner wasn't new to these types of gimmicks. Just one look at their Batman line and these things make complete sense. Unfortunately, I don't think everyone else felt the same way. The first wave of these figures were brand new concepts that felt  like they could belong in the universe. The second wave that would come with the Green cards gave us more things that actually existed in the films, save one. I can only imagine what a deluxe Chewbacca or Darth Vader could have come with. My only complaint about these toys is that all of the backpack accessories will only fit VERY few figures. This is because they were made to insert into a medium sized hole in their back. I'm absolutely sure that they could h...

Mega Construx MOTU - Wind Raider, SDCC Battle Bones, Man at Arms and Evil Lyn

I'm always sold on when a toy line is offered in a similar way to lego. I have the Mega Construx Power Rangers, the Kre-O G.I. Joe series (that I will showcase at some point) and now I have added Masters of the Universe to my collection. Previously, I purchased and did an entry covering the Heroes of Eternia 5 pack but over the summer I have stocked up on their other offerings. 1 - The Wind Raider (w/ alternate He-Man and Skeletor) At $20, this is a really nice set. The Wind Raider is supremely well built, detailed, and articulated. It has all of the same action features as the vintage vehicle as well - winch, wheels, wings, tail fin. It is very sturdy. I know a lot of people worry about that when it comes to non lego brands, but this thing holds together well. V1 and V2 He-Man. Only differences are in the coloring of the harness and weapons. V1 has the Powersword and Shield in light grey. V2 has the Battle Axe in a silvery color. V1 Skele...

Kre-O G.I. Joe Battle Wagon

G.I. Joe has always had amazing vehicles for your figures to interact with. As the line grew, so did the imaginations of the creators, as each year seemed to provide us with something bigger than the one before. After the U.S.S. Flagg and the Defiant, bigger was no longer an option but that didn't stop G.I. Joe from just going big and bold with their designs.  The 1990s era of the line is not universally loved but they gave us plenty of big vehicles, including the Battle Wagon. The Battle Wagon was heavily marketed as an essential item for Joe fans of the time, especially in the DIC cartoon. Unfortunately, I never had it as a kid. It was a high price tag item and, honestly, I never remember seeing it in stores. When I was in college, my younger brother bought two of them on ebay. Being able to see them in person, I had to agree it was worth the hype that Hasbro put around it. I've now moved away from collecting traditional Joes. I'm older and I want my nephews and nieces ...
